The Great Gatsby

A young man from the Midwest is our narrator—Nick Carraway—who moves to New York into a small modest house in West Egg, immediately next door to a mansion where Jay Gatsby resides. Nick’s distant cousin, Daisy, lives across the bay in East Egg with her humorless husband (a purposeless man of means). What unfolds is a story that reflects the 1920s in the U.S., a jovial, carefree time in many ways, as we spend time with Gatsby, are drawn in by his long-standing love for Daisy, and we try to fathom the mystery surrounding the man. Is he "great"?
